Alligator / Crocodile Teeth
This is a good example of Alligator and Crocodile teeth you may find. The white one is a more recent tooth. These teeth are plentiful in Florida as these reptiles have lived in Florida for millions of years.
Puffer Fish / Burrfish / Parrot Fish
The mouth plates of these prehistoric fish fossilize and can be found on beaches, rivers and Gulf Shore deposits, in Florida. The ages of these Marine Fish Fossils date back to around 7 Million Years ago to 11 or so thousand years ago and are from the Miocene to Pleistocene Period.
Stingray Dermal Denticles
Dermal Denticles in Florida are typically from the late Miocene Period, they are quite literally teeth that moved to the outside of the Ray throughout its life. These are nice to find. The two in the picture were found in a Florida creek in the Bone Valley Formation.
Whale Vertebra, this specimen is appro. 3 inches by 2 inches high and was found in a small creek in central Florida. Megalodon teeth are often found in the same sites that these come out of.
Shark Vertebra, very common to the low country of SC. These are semi common in the creeks and rivers in central and south central Florida. These were found near Wauchula Florida
Part of a Dolphin jaw bone. This is the only one I have ever found. Found near Wauchula Florida. This specimen is 3 1/2 inches long.
These are Isolated Corals found near Charleston SC . Note that 2 of them are in matrix. These can be found on beaches around Charleston and inland in creeks and on land sites. Nice little finds.
Fossil Bi-Valves or Clams ect. ect. These are very common in coastal SC and I often find them in the rivers and creeks in Central and SW Florida. Common in many other locations as well.
Tube worm colony found at a construction site in SW Florid from a Pleistocene formation. I love finding these, hard to find them very intact like this one.
Sperm Whale Teeth
These are teeth from a Sperm Whale, they were found in the Bone Valley area of Florida. These are associated teeth, they were found in the same spot, over 20 teeth all together.
Barracuda Teeth
Barracuda teeth are pretty common all over Florida, the largest I have found are close to 1" in lenth.
Dolphin Teeth
These teeth are also very common all over Florida. They are pretty easy to ID as you can see.
